Thank you. The wood was treated with beeswax containing turpentine. It's a standard mixture for antique furniture and that gives it its worn look. That, and my quite poor woodworking skills.
Kind of. The stuff concentrates in the cracks and scratches that my poor woodworking left in the wood, therefore it is darker there. It's a very common product.
